Upon Sunday :)
[info]aralieclauds
The weekend draws to a close. My productivity level is being severely impaired by the presence of two cats: Scout is lying on my legs and Juno is scrunched down in the chair next to me. I'm hoping to write in both blogs and write the next chapter of my story - at least the keyboard is free. (Juno was lying on it a few minutes ago.)

We've had an enjoyable Sunday. I went to church for the first time in several months; it's been impossible for me to make a 10 am service after working midnight shift. I was shocked shortly after my arrival to learn there will be a new pastor soon. The current pastor has technically been an "interim" pastor, but she's been there for 2 years now. I remember back when I asked her to marry Ryan and me, she said her contract was up right around then. It must have been renewed once and now I guess her time is up. I don't know any of the details; maybe she's ready to move on herself or maybe the powers-that-be chose someone else. Who knows. I don't like change, so I'm not happy with this development :P

And we did make it to the movies to see Men in Black 3. It was ... okay. Fun to go see, but definitely not my favorite movie ever, lol.

Time to watch The Next Food Network Star! :)

Upon Trying to Fit Everything in :)
[info]aralieclauds
My "now that I don't have to work this weekend" projects are threatening to overwhelm me. When I started getting ideas, I failed to remember that I'm still tired, lol.

Now it's after 11 pm and I still want to:

- write the next chapter of my story
- study French
- finish or at least work on my French homework
- do some extra grammar exercises because I'm crazy like that
- write in my French blog
- talk to Michelle on the phone (although she doesn't seem available anymore)
- continue working on my genealogy book
- laundry

Last night I went to bed at midnight, super early for a non-working Saturday for me. I just couldn't make it. Tonight I'm still feeling tired despite way-too-many cups of tea, so I might do the same thing. Which means it's unlikely I will finish my list of "chores" and I will fall behind ... the horrors.

There will be no time to catch up tomorrow. I have plans: church, breakfast/brunch, making muffins, watching Men In Black 3 ...

It occurs to me that I'm not sure I've ever seen Men In Black 2. When did that happen? How am I always so behind the times?

And then it's back to work on Monday. No holiday for me.

I just do not have enough time in the week for all my hobbies :P My fun stresses me out :P

Upon It's Finally Friiiiiiiiiday!

Do you know how unhelpful cats are when their owners are trying to study? Juno keeps plopping herself down on my French books. Thanks, Juno :P

Nonetheless, I think I have made headway into the mystery that is qui and que, so I am immune to the effects of this cat. Although she is now trying to tear up my book, so that's unfortunate.

It's the weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm already starting to fall asleep at the table. In fact, I did fall asleep at my outside table earlier today. I only woke up because my French worksheets were blowing away. Ryan says I'm going to get bitten by a spider by falling asleep out there, but it was very comfortable out in the warm sun.

What do we have planned for this weekend? Nothing. Maybe grocery shopping. Lunch at our favorite restaurant. Fondue for dinner. Gardening, perhaps. Studying French. Sending relaxing thoughts towards Kelly and Ben, who don't really get to relax until June (but who will make it, I have total faith!)

Two whole days off from work. I am so excited :)

Upon Waiting For Friday :)

"I would make a terrible cop. Because my answer would always be, 'So that's when I shot him.'" - Best World's Dumbest Criminals line ever :)

Busy, busy day at work, but I was given a cupcake so it was okay. Friday approaches! I just have to make it through one more day and then I get to sleep in. Not that I'm counting or anything!

I made a deal with Ryan today: we could go out for dinner if he'd agree to fill my car with gas. Mostly it was me who wanted the gas and me who wanted to go out for dinner. Or at least I wanted to go out if that was the way to get gas. I hate stopping at the gas station, especially when it's hot and after a long day at work. So it was a win win :)

Just one day left, one day ...

Upon Still Tired lol
[info]aralieclauds
I almost started writing here in French, lol. I just wrote an email in French and my journal in French ... luckily this is in English actually because I need a break :)

Two day weekend coming up! I'm counting the moments. I worked an extra shift last Saturday, entertained my in laws, and worked late on Monday ... that was more exhausting than I thought it would be. Hopefully I'll catch up on sleep this weekend and then I'll write something besides how tired I am.

Now I must go package up my spaghetti and get to bed. I'll write more tomorrow - no evening French classes on Thursdays!

Upon Some Food Things :)
[info]aralieclauds
Once again I'm exhausted, but I'm still writing. I am determined, lol.

I had today off from work in exchange for working over the weekend. I woke up at 9 am, which is proof I worked night shift and not midnight. If I'd worked midnight, I might still be sleeping :P Anyway, it was a pleasantly productive day, in which I didn't find my missing DVD but I did some laundry, studied some French, and loaded the dishwasher.

Ryan said he had cabin fever and I realized I didn't have any lunch, so we went to Fuddruckers in the late afternoon. This should satisfy my craving for Fuddruckers for a while. It's such a cute restaurant and I love the atmosphere (the music, etc) but oh boy the food is not so fabulous. It's a bit like salt on a plate :P

Which makes me wonder ... I didn't see any signs of anybody making spaghetti here ... what are the chances Ryan remembered to make me spaghetti for lunch tomorrow like he promised? lol

Upon Must Sleep Now
[info]aralieclauds
Sooooooo very sleepy. I had visions of coming home and relaxing, but now I just have visions of going to bed. Working this weekend, entertaining all weekend, and working late tonight = no energy whatsoever.

I did manage to find some time to research Ajaccio, which is part of Corse, an island in the south of France. I'm preparing for Wednesday's class, but it's really helpful when the topic is this interesting. Not that I've managed to stay on topic. I've found so many interesting tidbits of information from this research. Hopefully I find a way to narrow this down or I'm going to be talking for forever!

That'll be my goal for tomorrow, when I have off from work. Research, find Sarah's Key to give/lend to a friend, fix up my journal entries, and make popovers.

Sounds relaxing, right? :)

Upon A Busy Weekend :)
[info]aralieclauds
No more working weekends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Except when I choose to volunteer or something occasional like that.)

We've been busy this weekend, with Ryan's family visiting. Sometimes we just hang around the house when they're visiting, but this time we actually went out and did things. Saturday morning we went to the movies and saw Dark Shadows (eh, just okay) and then today we went into DC to check out the American History Museum and the Natural History Museum. (Ryan said we could go to ONE museum; as you can see, we always listen to him :) )

But now I must go to bed because I'm going to be tiiiiiiired tomorrow lol

Upon A Good French Class ... And Then ... lol
[info]aralieclauds
My French teacher seems equally frustrated with the way the class is going, so I guess that's progress :P

She asked me today to let her know if anything was bothering me about the class. My first thought was that somebody told her I've been complaining (but who?) As we talked, though, it seemed more like she's just trying to figure out what to do with us.

She pointed out that she tries to come up with interesting things to do and other students seem uninterested. I agree - that's DEFINITELY a problem. There are several students who complain all the time. Any homework is always too much. She asks us to keep a weekly journal, for instance, but out of 8 students I'm one of the few who does this regularly. (This makes me think that I should submit 7 or 8 entries per week, then. If the others aren't submitting anything, I'll take their places :P )

Anyway, we usually go to a restaurant or something the last class of each session and she decided last week's movie watching class will count towards that. This pleases me :) And we did lots of grammar work today. This is also good.

We still barely got any homework, but I'm thinking maybe I'll ask her if I can do extra exercises and review them with her real quick at the beginning of the class?

So all in all, it was a good class. I was feeling quite optimistic when I left.

Then I got into a car accident :P (I am fine, car is fine)

Upon Louis de Funes
[info]aralieclauds
My French homework, due tomorrow afternoon, is to write something about the film we watched in class. Since I wasn't a huge fan of watching a film or that particular film (although I may have liked the film better if I wasn't irritated about watching it in class!), I thought I'd find an interesting anecdote to write about the actor who played the main character instead.

First paragraph on Wikipedia ... "His family came from Spain, after his father kidnapped his mother because her family did not want her to marry him." Okaaaaaaay, that's pretty interesting, right? But of course I can't find anything more about that!

Later ... "He was expelled from school for arson." Um, that should also be an interesting story ... but nothing more on that either.

The Internet is not helping me this evening :P
